Timothy “Tim” Theodore Duncan, born April 25, 1976, is a retired American professional basketball player.
He is widely regarded as the best power forward of all time, as well as one of the greatest NBA players in history.
Duncan spent his entire 19-year career with the San Antonio Spurs and was a key contributor to the Spurs’ success in the 2000s and early 2010s.
Early life and Education
Tim Duncan was born on April 25, 1976, in the Virgin Islands, where he excelled in basketball from an early age.
He attended St. Dunstan’s Episcopal High School on St. Croix, where he was a Parade All-American and a member of the USA Today All-USA high school basketball team in 1994.
After graduating from St. Dunstan’s, Duncan went on to play basketball at Wake Forest University.
During his four years at Wake Forest, he was a two-time ACC Player of the Year, a three-time consensus All-American, and a Naismith and Wooden Award finalist.
Duncan graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in psychology in 1997.
The San Antonio Spurs selected him first overall in the 1997 NBA draft, and he went on to have a phenomenal career.

Career
Tim Duncan had an outstanding NBA career, exclusively with the San Antonio Spurs from 1997 to 2016.
Over his 19-year career, he won five NBA championships, three NBA Finals MVP awards, two NBA MVP awards, and was chosen to the All-NBA First Team ten times and the NBA All-Defensive First Team eight times.
Duncan is largely regarded as one of the best power players in NBA history, with a reputation for fundamentally good play, leadership, and consistency.
He was also a significant part of the Spurs’ great run in the 2000s, which included multiple titles and the record for the most consecutive seasons with 50 or more wins, alongside players like Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili.
Duncan retired from the NBA in 2016 with 26,496 points, 15,091 rebounds, and 3,020 blocks.
Tim was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.
Personal Life
Duncan married Amy Sherrill in July 2001, and the couple had two daughters before splitting up in August 2013.
In 2017, Duncan and his girlfriend welcomed their first child.
