Saquon Rasul Quevis Barkley, born February 9, 1997, is an American football running back for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL).
Barkley played college football at Penn State, where he established multiple all-time school records for offensive performance over three seasons before foregoing his senior year to enter the NFL in 2018.
Early life and Education
Saquon Barkley was born in The Bronx, New York City, on February 9, 1997.
He grew up in Coplay, Pennsylvania, and went to Whitehall High School, where he ran track and played football.
Barkley’s football success drew him to Penn State University, where he played running back for the Nittany Lions from 2015 to 2017.
Barkley set multiple records and received numerous awards during his time at Penn State, including the Paul Hornung Trophy, the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year title, and consensus All-American honors.
In 2016, he also guided the Nittany Lions to the Big Ten Championship.
Barkley declared for the 2018 NFL Draft after his junior year at Penn State and was taken second overall by the New York Giants.

Career
Saquon Barkley’s professional football career began in 2018 when the New York Giants selected him second overall in the NFL Draft.
In his rookie season, he rapidly established himself as one of the league’s most entertaining and dynamic players, receiving Rookie of the Year honors and a Pro Bowl selection.
Barkley rushed for 1,307 yards and 11 touchdowns in his first season, while also catching 91 receptions for 721 yards and four scores.
He established a slew of franchise and league milestones, including the most receptions by a rookie running back in NFL history.
Injuries restricted Barkley’s performance in his second and third seasons, but he remained an important component of the Giants’ offense and demonstrated his remarkable talent and versatility.
