Rodrygo Silva de Goes, popularly known as Rodrygo, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays forward for Real Madrid in La Liga and for the Brazil national team.
He began his career with Santos, where he played 80 games and scored 17 goals before joining Real Madrid in 2019 for €45 million.
Rodrygo made his senior debut for Brazil in 2019, at the age of 18.
Early Life and Education
Rodrygo Silva de Goes was born in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo on January 9, 2001, to his mother, Denise Goes, and father, Eric Batista de Goes.
Goes is his parents’ first kid. His parents had a baby girl in early 2018, who happened to be Rodrygo’s one and only sister.
Rodrygo was raised in a middle-class family whose income was derived from sports.
His father began his career as a player in Brazil’s lower leagues, earning little money to support his family.
Rodrygo’s love of football led to him passing trials and entering the Santos academy.
His parents insisted that their son be allocated to the club’s futsal squad.
This was the road pursued by the family’s football idol, Robinho.
Rodrygo joined Santos’ youth system in 2011, when he was ten years old and was first allocated to the futsal team.
In March 2017, while the first team regulars were in Peru for a Copa Libertadores match against Sporting Cristal, manager Dorival Júnior summoned him up to the first team to complete training.
Rodrygo signed his first professional contract on July 21, 2017, after agreeing to a five-year contract.
Elano, the interim manager, promoted him to the main squad on November 1.
On June 15, 2018, Real Madrid reached an agreement with Santos for the transfer of Rodrygo, with the player joining Los Blancos in June 2019 and signing until 2025.
Rodrygo made his first team debut on September 25, 2019, and scored his first league goal within a minute against Osasuna.
He got called up to the Brazilian senior team for the first time in November 2019.
