LeBron James, full name LeBron Raymone James, nicknamed King James, was born December 30, 1984, in Akron, Ohio, USA.
He is widely regarded as one of the greatest all-around players of all time and is frequently compared to Michael Jordan in discussions over the greatest basketball player of all time.
He won NBA championships with the Miami Heat (2012 and 2013), the Cleveland Cavaliers (2016), and the Los Angeles Lakers (2017). (2020).
In 2023, he broke Kareem Abdul-record Jabbar’s (38,387) to become the NBA’s all-time top scorer.
Early life and Education
James was born in Akron, Ohio, on December 30, 1984, to Gloria Marie James, who was 16 years old at the time.
Anthony McClelland, his father, had an extensive criminal record and was not involved in his life.
Life was sometimes a hardship for the family when James was growing up, as they moved from apartment to apartment in Akron’s seedier districts while Gloria fought to find a consistent job.
Gloria agreed to let her son live with the family of Frank Walker, a local youth football coach who introduced James to basketball when he was nine years old.
In the fifth grade, James began playing organized basketball.
Later, he was a member of the Northeast Ohio Shooting Stars of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).
James and his friends led the squad to victory on a local and national level.

Career
James, a local basketball prodigy since elementary school, was named Ohio’s Mr. Basketball three times while leading Akron’s St. Vincent-St. Mary High School to three Ohio state championships in his four years on the team.
In his junior year, he became a national media sensation after appearing on the cover of Sports Illustrated, where he was dubbed as “The Chosen One.”
The Cleveland Cavaliers selected James as the first overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft.
In his first regular-season game, he scored 25 points against the Sacramento Kings, setting an NBA record for most points scored by a prep-to-pro player in his debut performance.
He was the first Cavalier to win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award at the end of the 2003-2004 season.
From the 2010-11 season till the 2018-19 season, James won eight consecutive NBA championships.
During that period, he won three championships: twice with the Miami Heat (2011-12 and 2012-13) and once with the Cleveland Cavaliers (2015-16).
James was chosen to play in the NBA All-Star Game for the first time in 2005 and would go on to earn a spot in the annual showcase in each of the next 15 seasons.
Personal Life
On September 14, 2013, James married his high school sweetheart Savannah James in San Diego, California.
They have two sons, Bronny and Bryce, and a daughter, Zhuri. Bronny was selected as a McDonald’s All-American in 2023, 20 years after James’s selection.
