Kevin De Bruyne, born 28 June 1991, is a Belgian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Premier League club Manchester City.
He captains the Belgium national team.
He is highly considered one of the top players in the world. Pundits have frequently referred to him as a “complete footballer.”
Early life and Education
Kevin De Bruyne was born in Ghent, Belgium on June 28, 1991.
His parents, Herwig and Anna De Bruyne, were both sportsmen, his father was a football player and his mother a tennis player.
De Bruyne has always had a passion for football and began playing for the local team KVV Drongen when he was four years old.
When he was younger, De Bruyne was a quiet, shy guy who preferred to play football or watch his beloved team, Ghent.
Although he did well academically at the local Ghent school where he went, football was always his first love.

Career
Club Career
De Bruyne began his career in Genk, where he was a regular when the club won the Belgian Pro League in 2010-11.
He joined the English club Chelsea in 2012, where he was played rarely before being loaned to Werder Bremen.
Kevin signed for Wolfsburg for £18 million in 2014, where he quickly established himself as one of the top players in the Bundesliga.
He was instrumental in the club’s DFB-Pokal victory in 2014-15.
De Bruyne joined Manchester City in the summer of 2015 for a club-record fee of £54 million.
Since then, he has won four Premier League titles, five League Cups, and an FA Cup with the club.
He played a significant role in Manchester City becoming the only Premier League team to achieve 100 points in a single season in 2017-18.
In 2019-20, De Bruyne equaled the record for most assists in a Premier League season and was named Player of the Season (a title he will retain in 2021-22).
De Bruyne has been named to the UEFA Champions League Squad of the Season and the IFFHS Men’s World Team five times each.
The ESM Team of the Year four times, the FIFA FIFPRO World 11, and the UEFA Team of the Year three times each.
The France Football World XI, and the Bundesliga Team of the Year four times each.
He’s also been named Premier League Playmaker of the Season twice, and PFA Players’ Player of the Year twice.

International Career
De Bruyne made his full international debut in 2010 at 19 years, and he has since earned over 90 caps for Belgium, scoring 26 goals.
He was a member of the Belgian squads that advanced to the quarterfinals of both the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 UEFA Euro.
He was nominated to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Dream Team when Belgium finished third.
As well as featuring in UEFA Euro 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Personal Life
Kevin De Bruyne is a caring husband and father in addition to being a renowned football player.
De Bruyne married his long-term lover Michele Lacroix in 2017.
The pair met as youngsters and married in a secret ceremony in Italy.
They have two children, Mason Milian De Bruyne, a son, and Rome De Bruyne, a daughter.
De Bruyne enjoys music and has been known to play the guitar.
