Carlos Alcaraz Garfia, born 5 May 2003, is a professional tennis player from Spain.

He is currently ranked as the world’s No. 1 player in men’s singles by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).

Alcaraz has won eight ATP Tour-level singles titles, including the 2022 US Open and three Masters 1000 titles.

With his US Open victory, Alcaraz became the youngest man to top the singles rankings at 19 years, 4 months, and 6 days old.

The first teenager to do so during the Open Era.

As a youngster, Alcaraz was ranked as high as world No. 22 and won two titles on the ITF Junior Circuit.

After becoming a professional in 2018, he won three titles on the ITF Men’s World Tennis Circuit.

Four on the ATP Challenger Tour, and broke into the top 100 in rankings in May 2021.

Early life and Education

Carlos Alcaraz is a promising young Spanish tennis player who has appeared on the ATP Tour.

Alcaraz was born on May 5, 2003, in El Palmar, Spain.

He began playing tennis at the age of three and has been coached by his father, Juan Francisco Alcaraz, ever since.

Alcaraz attended the Instituto Alcántara de Lorca, a high school in his hometown, where he balanced his studies with his tennis training.

In an interview with Tennis World USA, Alcaraz explained that he had to adjust his schedule to accommodate both school and tennis.

But he was determined to succeed in both.

Alcaraz’s talent on the court was evident from a young age, and he quickly made a name for himself on the junior circuit.

He won the prestigious Junior Davis Cup with Spain in 2019 and also advanced to the semifinals of the US Open Junior Championships.

Career

Carlos Alcaraz is a young male tennis star recognized for his big serve, aggressive play style, and outstanding court covering.

Alcaraz debuted on the ATP Challenger Tour in 2020 and quickly made an impression.

He won his first Challenger championship in Trieste, Italy, in August 2020, becoming the youngest Spanish player ever to win a Challenger event at just 17 years old.

In March 2021, Alcaraz made his ATP Tour debut at the Chile Open in Santiago.

He won his first ATP Tour match against fellow Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas, and went on to reach the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Where he lost to eventual champion Cristian Garin.

Throughout the 2021 season, Alcaraz continued to impress.

He advanced to the Marbella Open quarterfinals in April, the Andalucia Open semifinals in May, and the Umag Open quarterfinals in July.

He also made his debut at a Grand Slam tournament at the 2021 US Open.

Where he defeated top 20 player Stefanos Tsitsipas in the third round before losing to eventual finalist Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals.

Alcaraz’s success on the court has earned him comparisons to fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal.

Many predict that he has a bright future ahead of him in the sport.

Personal Life

Carlos Alcaraz is known for his dedication and focus on tennis, but he also has a personal life outside of the sport.

In his free time, Alcaraz enjoys spending time with his family and friends, listening to music, and watching movies.

He is also a fan of football (soccer) and supports the Spanish club Real Madrid.

Alcaraz is bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English fluently.

He has said that he is working to improve his English so that he can communicate better with fans and media from around the world.

Despite his success on the court, Alcaraz remains humble and focused on his goals.

He has said that his ultimate goal is to become the best player he can be and to continue improving his game.
